You don't have to pass the Theory Test before starting
your practical lessons.
Automatic Tuition advises you to study for both at the same time.
However, you should
be aware that normall you will have to take and pass a theory test before applying for a practical test.
At Automatic Tuition
we will help you prepare for your theory test by:
Testing
and developing our knowledge of the Highway Code and other motoring matters during practical lesson
Developing your hazard perception skills
The TestThe test is in two
parts.Part One consists of multiple-choice questions. You touch
the screen to select the correct answer(s) from those offered. Some questions require more than one answer. A message at the
top of the screen will tell you how many answers are required. This part of the test consists of 50 questions, which must be answered in 57 minutes. A clock on the computer screen will tell you how long you have left.
TO PASS you must get at
least 43 questions correct. Some of the questions are asked in a case study format. The case study takes the form of a scenario or short story on which
five multiple choice questions are based. They are marked individually.
Part Two of the test requires
you to view 14 hazard video clips on the computer screen of approximately one minute each. You are required to watch these
clips as if you were the driver. There will be 15 hazards to find - at least one on each clip. However, one clip will have
2 hazards. The hazard clips will not contain any sound - just like the old silent movies.
You click either the left or right mouse
button whenever you think you can see a hazard developing. The speed at which you click the mouse button as a hazard develops
will determine your score for that particular hazard clip. You can score between 0 and 5 on each hazard. Therefore the maximum
you can score is 75 (i.e. 15 hazards x 5). To pass you need a score of 44.
